There are several ways to get involved at Waseda!
International Community Center Interact with locals and other international students through a variety of events such as language and cultural exchange programs; Japanese Culture Week; Japanese & English Chat Clubs; Country Festivals; Homestays; and more!
Sports Clubs & Interest Groups Waseda has nearly 600 interest groups and over 40 athletics clubs! Examples include sumo, sailing, and archery and baseball.
Students can study in a number of different areas in English at Waseda University. Available courses for each school can be found below. Please note that course titles do not always provide a specific description of the course. Course descriptions can be found by searching course titles in Waseda's Syllabus Search.
THE SCHOOL OF INTERNATIONAL LIBERAL STUDIES (SILS) (English-based w/ required Japanese Language Courses)
Students take a minimum 8 credits of 300 and 400 level academic courses combined with up to 6 credits of Japanese language courses. The amount of Japanese language credits taken varies based on the level of proficiency. Students are also welcome to take additional university-wide courses.

THE SCHOOL OF SOCIAL SCIENCES - TRANSNATIONAL & INTERDISCIPLINARY STUDIES IN SOCIAL INNOVATION (TAISI) (English)
The TAISI program aims to train students to become leaders of social change, involving hands-on experience in making positive contributions to society. The program has the following areas of focus:

THE SCHOOL OF FUNDAMENTAL SCIENCE & ENGINEERING (English)
Students are not able to take courses offered by other schools, departments or programs. Students can, however, take courses offered by the Global Education Center and up to 8 credits of Japanese Language Courses offered by the Center for Japanese Language.
IMPORTANT NOTE: Students must have the same area of study at UTK to participate in this program. At the time of enrollment, students must be in their 3rd year.
THE SCHOOL OF CREATIVE SCIENCE & ENGINEERING (English)
Students are not able to take courses offered by other schools, departments or programs. Students can, however, take courses offered by the Global Education Center and up to 8 credits of Japanese Language Courses offered by the Center for Japanese Language.
IMPORTANT NOTE: Students must have the same area of study at UTK to participate in this program. At the time of enrollment, students must be in their 3rd year.
THE SCHOOL OF ADVANCED SCIENCE & ENGINEERING (English)

There are dormitories specifically for exchange students at Waseda University. Waseda University International Students House, Waseda Hoshien, and Waseda University Nishi Waseda International Students House are all within walking distance from Waseda, Toyama and Nishi Waseda campuses.

The CIE Asia Exchange Program Scholarship offers $2,000 for students accepted to study at a UT exchange program in Asia for either the fall, spring or academic year. This award is NOT gauranteed and is awarded on a first-come, first-serve basis. Apply now!

Cost Information
Students pay UTK tuition and fees, international health insurance, and their $175 study abroad administrative fee directly to the University of Tennessee, Knoxville through their myUTK account. Students in the Haslam College of Business, Architecture and Design, the Tickle College of Engineering, and Social Work will be assessed a charge of 12 credits per semester of study as determined by the fee schedule for the academic year they study abroad.
Any payments made directly to the host institution (i.e. accommodation) will follow the host institution's payment schedule, which may be ahead of UT's schedule to release any applicable financial aid.
Please refer to the term-specific Cost Sheets below for estimated costs. These estimates do NOT include any course fees as described above.
