UT Open Campus Summer

Overview

The University of Tennessee, Knoxville has partnered with CIEE to offer you a study abroad program like no other. With coursework available in a variety of disciplines, taught in English, you will find this a greatly rewarding and challenging experience.

The UT Open Campus Summer program offers you flexibility to engage and experience multiple countries in your own way on their open campus summer program. Each session is four weeks, where you choose one course per session, and you have the flexibility of small, hands-on, and highly focused classes. The programs let you stay in one place for four weeks and move to another city for an additonal four weeks.

Studying in One Location

You are able to study at the same open campus location for one, two, or three sessions.

Studying in Multiple Locations

You are able to study in multiple locations in different sessions. Imagine yourself in Berlin, London, and Paris in one summer!

Berlin, Germany- Berlin is the city of reinvention and serves as one of Europe’s leading centers for business, science, and education.Home to high-tech start-ups, film communities, and graffiti artists, launch your venture from Berlin’s Kreuzberg district, known for thriving multiculturalism and an artsy vibe.

Buenos Aires, Argentina- Founded in 1536, this bustling metropolis reveals influence of Europe and the Middle East. A vibrant port city, Buenos Aires is also the world’s leading Spanish language publishing hub.

Cape Town, South Africa-Cape Town is the economic center of sub-Saharan Africa and functions as a vibrant center for studies in multiculturalism, business, sustainability, and political science.Cape Town gives you the opportunity to experience South Africa’s challenges and its delights.

Copenhagen, Denmark- The capital of Denmark is quickly becoming the epicenter of Scandi-cool, with its aesthetic eye toward minimalism. It’s also topping the list of the world’s greenest and most sustainable urban centers.

London, England- London is the leading destination for study abroad students and operates as a global crossroads for business, science, education, art, theatre, technology, public health, and public policy.

Madrid, Spain- Madrid is the capital of the Kingdom of Spain, the third largest city in the European Union, home to world famous football clubs, and is considered the major financial center of Southern Europe.

Monteverde, Costa Rica- Located in northwestern Costa Rica, Monteverde is known for its geographical and ecological uniqueness, and is home to some of the most stunning exotic flora, fauna, and wildlife at the infamous Monteverde Cloud Forest Reserve.

Paris, France- Paris is the capital of France and recognized as a global center for art, business, fashion, food, film, domestic and international politics, and of course, wine and cheese.

Rio de Janeiro, Brazil- Rio is the most visited city in the southern hemisphere and is known for its natural setting, Carnaval celebrations, samba, Bossa Nova, and its energetic population.

Rome, Italy- Rome is the capital of Italy and is considered one of the incubators of Western Civilization, while it functions today as a premier center of European art, architecture, cuisine, fashion, business and politics.

Santiago, Chile- The metropolis of Santiago is South America’s sixth largest city with the towering Andes mountains nearly always in view. In this economic center, you’ll find world-class cuisine, exotic suburban parks, and neoclassical architecture.

Shanghai, China- Shanghai has grown into a global hub of culture, commerce, and finance over the last two decades, making it the best place to enjoy the best of 21st century technology or traditional Chinese culture.

Sydney, Australia- Sydney's breathtaking biodiversity and laid-back lifestyle reflects the best of what the land down under has to offer. Enjoy the great Australian outdoors and spend your afternoons reading at the world-famous Bondi Beach.

Merida (Yucatan), Mexico- 20 minutes from the warm waters of the Gulf of Mexico, Merida is a historic, colonial city located on the geographically unique Yucatan Peninsula. Close to hundreds of Mayan ruins and incredible food, you're in for a rich cultural experience in Merida.

Sessions and Credit

You take one course per session for 1-3 sessions in one summer allowing you flexibility in your studies as well as program locations. You will earn 3 credits per session, and can choose up to 3 sessions for 9 credits. You can choose to participate in up to 3 sessions in a single location, or mix and match at the different Global Institutes.

Transcript

Students parcipating on a UT Open Campus Program will receive a School of Record Transcript from Tulane University.

Program Cost Information

Program costs vary based on program track and term selection. As a participant on a CIEE study abroad program, you will be charged and pay a program fee directly to CIEE. At UTK, you will be charged and pay a $175 study abroad administrative fee in MyUTK, for the term you study abroad only.
